Ngā Tāngata Tiaki through the Mouri Tūroa Project is assisting with riparian planting and fencing of waterways for Māori lands on the Whanganui River and its tributaries affected by Stock Exclusions Regulations (Essential Freshwater Reforms). The project is reaching out to those Māori lands which do not have a trust or other management structure to administer their lands.

The primary purpose of both meetings will be to discuss:

  • The Mouri Tūroa project and opportunities available for owners of the above blocks;
  • Options to enable Mouri Tūroa to complete the proposed work, including but not restricted to:
    • A limited powers Ahu Whenua Trust over some or all of the above clusters of blocks, and election of trustee(s);
    • The appointment of an agent to represent the owners of some or all of the above clusters of blocks;
    • A full powers Ahu Whenua Trust over some or all of the above clusters of blocks, and election of trustee(s); or
    • Other options available to owners.

Future opportunities for development will also be open for discussion. We invite you as owners in these blocks to bring your whakaaro and kōrero on the health and development of these parts of our whenua that sit alongside Te Awa Tupua.
